About Me

Welcome fellow travelers and friends!!

My name is Kaitlin and I am 18 years old. I have been traveling and living in different countries my entire life!

I was born in Amsterdam, Holland, and also lived in Los Angeles, Dusseldorf (Germany), Paris (France), and Rome (Italy) all by the time I was 7 years old!

One of the only real times we actually did settle down was in Venice, Italy. We spent 7 years there and most of my childhood along with it, so I consider myself a true Italian.

Growing up in Italy was amazing! During our 4 years in Rome, I went to a British international school and made many great friends from all over the world. Next, we moved to Paris, France and I attended a French/International school where I was speaking French very well after only 6 months. When we moved to Venice, Italy, I attended a local public school right in the heart of Venice! It was incredible – my school was right on one of the most beautiful canals in the whole city! During my 7 years in Venice, I got to know the city inside and out, made wonderful friends, and learned to speak Italian (which replaced my French), and even some Venetian, fluently.

Because of my mom’s dream of traveling around the world while us kids were still young and because she of her incredible story, we packed all of our stuff into a storage unit and in 2013, we left on an open-ended journey to see the world!

So far we have traveled to 56 countries on 5 continents, yet that number will definitely keep going up as we continue circling the globe in search of new adventures!

As you can see we like to travel – A LOT. We are one of those families that is constantly on the move – nobody ever knows where we will pop up next!

Of course, my parents are American and we travel like mad people, so I really don’t know to which country I belong! To the World I guess!

What I Love

I have so many interests that I would need 10 lifetimes to do them all! My favorites are traveling, writing, history, archaeology, and musical theater. I also love helping others, especially kids, around the world! Every summer in Venice, I am a volunteer camp counselor at a local Venetian camp for kids. As we travel, I love volunteering at schools and orphanages in many different countries. My dream is to work for the UN, particularly for UNICEF or UNESCO, because I love sharing my heart and passions to help children and to save the world’s precious artifacts.

My Charity

Kids Unite 4 Hope was founded by our family after an impromptu trip to volunteer in Turkey with the Syrian refugees. We were so moved by our experience that we created a charity to support the Syrian kids. During our time in Turkey, we made friends with many refugees we now call family and decided we wanted to share with the world the heart and soul of Syria we knew. That is when we had the idea of getting kids around the world to show their support by donating from their hearts and creating artwork for the Syrian refugee children. After starting our charity, it quickly expanded to kids in need all over the world.

As we travel around the world, we volunteer,  do fundraisers, collect artwork, and are building an educational program to inspire kids to become global citizens and make a difference. The youth of today are the future leaders, teachers, and parents of tomorrow. We must come together NOW to make the world a better place.

Never in the history of the world has there been a better time to unite as one voice thanks to the power of technology. We can now virtually travel anywhere and learn about any culture – becoming open-minded global citizens dedicated to helping others and changing the world.

What about school you might ask?

One answer: Worldschooling. Nothing compares to having the world as your classroom, and all the people you meet along the way – your teachers.

Not only do we get to see a bunch of countries and sights, we learn to respect other cultures, see poverty first-hand, speak to people in different languages, learn life-long skills, and most importantly, open our minds and hearts to what the rest of the world is like.

I invite you to come along with me on my exciting journey and live unforgettable moments as I travel around the globe – learning, new friends, great food, incredible sights, and most of all – FUN!
